THE EDWARD RAWSON FELLOWS PROGRAM

Overview
Citizens for Global Solutions runs a year-round apprenticeship program geared to lend growth and experience to recent college and university graduates who wish to break into the non-profit world. The Edward Rawson Fellows Programs offers participants an opportunity for hands-on experience working on global issues with one of the country’s leading educational and advocacy organizations.

Edward Rawson, a long-time board member and supporter of Citizens for Global Solutions, is an exceptional global leader who has committed his life to promoting peace, justice, and freedom for a democratically governed world.

The Edward Rawson Fellowship Program was designed to encourage young people to become active in international affairs. The program provides a unique educational experience for individuals who want to develop leadership skills in government relations, communications, and grassroots outreach and promote active citizen engagement in global institutions. Most importantly, it is an opportunity to work in the political atmosphere of Washington, D.C.

Requirements
To be considered for a fellowship program you must:
•    Have recently completed an undergraduate or graduate program in history, international relations, economics, political science, law, public policy, computer multi-media and design, or another field of study relevant to the work of Citizens for Global Solutions.
•    Have a strong history of academic achievement.
•    Must have particularly strong writing skills and communication skills.
•    Have a substantial interest in U.S. engagement in global affairs and in global issues facing the international community.
•    Prior experience with politics, public-activism or communications is helpful, but not required.

Communications Fellow
The Communications Fellow assists in the areas of media, strategic planning, and public outreach on behalf of Citizens for Global Solutions. Duties may include:
•    External research
•    Editing publications
•    Database maintenance
•    Media outreach
•    Writing Newsletters and press releases

Government Relations Fellow
The Government Relations Fellow works as a link between Citizens for Global Solutions and the actions of Congress concerning our major program areas. Duties may include:
•    Monitoring congressional voting habits
•    Assisting our chief lobbyist
•    Covering congressional hearings
•    Attending coalition meetings

Programs Fellow
The Programs Fellow mainly researches and writes on issues pertaining to Citizens for Global Solutions major program areas including Peace & Security, International Law & Justice, International Institutions, and U.S. Global Engagement. Duties may include:
•    Writing news updates and reports
•    Attending congressional hearings, conferences, and coalition meetings
•    Updating website content
•    Developing briefing materials for staff on specific issues
•    Monitoring public polls and following current events

Staff Writer Fellow
The Writing Fellow backstops the President as well as other staff members on writing projects and researching for the organization. Duties may include:
•    Writing Op-eds
•    Writing speeches
•    Writing press releases
•    Conducting policy and issue research
•    Attend issue-oriented meetings as necessary
•    Writing for development materials

To apply, provide a cover letter (should include your potential start date if you know it), resume, and a 5-8 page writing sample (this can be a portion of a larger paper and can be on any issue).

SCOVILLE FELLOWSHIP

 

Citizens for Global Solutions is also a proud participant of the Scoville Fellowship Program.  The Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship provides an opportunity to recent college graduates to work for non-governmental organizations dedicated to international peace and security issues, including Citizens for Global Solutions.  Fellows typically work between six to nine months for an organization, and are provided with a stipend.
