New Faces at Citizen for Global Solutions, Laura Hendrick & Abigail Long

Abigail Long arrived at the Global Solutions offices on January 5th to begin her five-month-long internship; the next day, she found herself hobnobbing with senators and representatives at the U.S. Capitol, as Global Solutions staffers headed off to receptions for members of the 111th Congress.

"It was overwhelming," she remembered. "I was nervous the whole time, because it was something I never thought I'd experience -- hearing Ted Kennedy speak as I stood just a few feet away, and seeing John Kerry -- it was all just unbelievable."

Abby handled the situation beautifully and has now been selected as a Rawson Fellow. Named after longtime board member and supporter Edward Rawson, the fellowship provides recent college and university graduates the opportunity to obtain hands-on experience working on global issues.

Armed with a bachelor's degree in International Relations and Spanish from Syracuse University in New York, Abby came to Global Solutions to work on programs involving the International Criminal Court and the U.N. In her spare time, she teaches English to Spanish-speaking immigrants in the Washington, DC area. Abby urges anyone interested in international issues to apply for an internship at Citizens for Global Solutions, because, "It's already exceeded my expectations."
