NEWSLETTER ARTICLE: Passages - Ruth DeTuncq+ Back to Fall 2009 Newsletter Main Page
Anyone in the CGS family who knew Ruth DeTuncq agrees that "she really walked her talk when it came to furthering the CGS principles that we hold dear," in the words of Milwaukee Chapter leader Debbie Metke. Ruth determinedly acted on her conviction that the United Nations should come into its own as an organizing world body. "She always offered her home and car. Ruth and I happily traveled together to hear speakers, attend statewide meetings, and in her earlier days, Ruth traveled to national conferences. She was at every newsletter folding party. Even in Ruth's last years, she kept up with the news, read many political magazines, and eagerly tried to discuss them with me," recalls Debbie. The Citizens for Global Solutions staff in the Washington, D.C. office also remember Ruth fondly. Don Kraus says "Ruth was one of individuals who could perceive the need for large scale global change and then get right down to doing something about it in her community. She was a wonderful team player, ready to do her part whenever we spoke. I remember the positive ‘can-do' attitude maintained, even when we faced opposition that sometimes seemed unbeatable." Ruth DeTuncq was a long-time supporter of Citizens for Global Solutions and a member of the Norman Cousins Club. Citizens for Global Solutions will miss Ruth DeTuncq, a great friend and partner.
